¡Bienvenidos a Mi Sitio Web!
My name is Gloria and I am currently part of the class of 2018 at Emory University. I was born in Nigeria, raised in São Paulo, and grew up in a few cities in Georgia. I have had the opportunity to grow up with family members who spoke so many langues which inluded: Spanish, Portuguese, Yoruba, and English. I guess you can say language has been both a barrier and an opportunity to learn new things, gain new experiences, and supplement my education. I am sadly one of the famous generational gaps when language is involved. I can honestly say that I regret not being able to learn my native language, however during my four years in high school I journeyed on the challenge to learn Spanish. I am honestly still not as good as I wish I were, but with everyday that passes there is progress. During my registration for my Spring 2015 classes selection I was required to take an ENG 101 class. I came across the class Expository Writing: Living Multilingualism and after reading the description of Dr. Suhr-Sytsma's class I new that I wanted to take it. The purpose of this site is to help me grow in my writing capabilities of the semester as I accomplish different projects and assignments. Also for those who do not know...we are all multinlingual. I knwo you must be thinking that you only speak English or just Spanish, but those languages in themselves have been influenced by other langauges. Therefore you are speaking a mixture of numerous languages, thus making you my friend multilgual. I hope this fact alone peaks your interest and motivates you to come back and check back on my website from time to time.
